DR VAN ASWEGEN
Dr Willem van Aswegen is an accomplished physician practising privately from Life Healthcare Peglerae Hospital in Rustenburg. Coming from a family practising medicine, his passion for his field began at a young age.
Dr van Aswegen obtained his MBChB with subjects including Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Paediatrics, Psychiatry and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. After graduating with distinction and second-place prize in Internal Medicine as well as General Surgery, he completed his medical internship. Thereafter, Dr van Aswegen finished his community service in 2016 at the Military Area Medical Health Unit in Gauteng, where he acted as the head at two sick bays in Pretoria and Soweto.
Dr van Aswegen completed his registrar training in Internal Medicine at Sefako Makghato University through Dr George Mukhari Hospital. In 2018, he attained his Diploma in Internal Medicine, completed his Fellowship through the College of Physicians of South Africa and his master’s in medicine in 2021.
Dr van Aswegen is a natural-born leader known to have built a successful orientation program, assisted with lectures, and led five registrars. His particular interest is pulmonology, but he specialises in several areas of internal medicine. Being the author of published research, Dr van Aswegen takes pride in his speciality, including his strides thus far.
